Precision Offset (PLO) — 3″ Perpendicular Line Offset Jig for Land Surveying
Locate any line that needs surveying — walls, edge of slab, footings, any flat face — from a fixed, repeatable 3″ perpendicular offset.
When a crew can't get a clean shot on a wall or slab edge, the Precision Offset gives them an accurate, repeatable position a known 3″ off the face. Store two points along the line and you have the line itself; cross it with a second line and you have the intersection — an inside corner on an odd angle or an outside corner on any angle, it backs out cleanly either way. It's the line-and-edge companion to the Precision Corner Offset (PCO), built by Dan Shields from the same field-proven method.
Seat the flat reference face against any flat surface, mount your mini-prism on the ribbed grab handle, and store the point. Because the 3″ offset is a known, machined geometry perpendicular to the face, the true line position pulls in cleanly — every time, across every crew.
Why crews use it
- Defines any surveyed line — walls, slab edges, footings, any flat face — from two repeatable points off a known offset.
- Cross two lines to create an intersection: inside corners on odd angles, outside corners on any angle.
- Fixed 3″ perpendicular offset to clear the face and keep the geometry known.
- High-strength ASA frame and ribbed grab handle; 6061-T6 aluminum reference plates that hold their geometry in the field.
- Your standard mini-prism mounts right on top — 5/8-11 thread, no proprietary target required.
- Engineered and manufactured in the USA, engineer-direct.
